Roll About Corporation Closes its Doors

- Fifteen years ago Roll About Corp was the first company to create and bring to the market what we now know today as a knee walker or knee scooter. They diligently carved out a market for this brand new contraption and were laughed out of some doctor's offices. "No one is ever going to use this!" Boy, were those doctor's wrong. Today, the name Roll About has become the most recognized brand name in the knee walker market. A knee walker or knee scooter is often called a Roll About due to the company name being associated with the first knee walker most doctors and customers ever saw. A great analogy is this: Roll About is to knee walkers as Kleenex is to tissues!
At its height, Roll About manufactured 4 different models with a few variations of each.
When Rent A Knee Walker was founded 6 years ago,
we choose to offer Roll About 's to our customers because of their popularity and position in the marketplace.
We have been an authorized Roll About distributor over that time and have rented and sold thousands to our customers all over the country who have ridden their way to recovery!
We currently rent the Roll About Steerable, model number SW500, pictured to the right.
Unfortunately as of December 31st 2012, Roll About Corp made the decision to close their doors and no longer manufacture knee walkers. Over the first few months of this year, the company was then broken up into smaller pieces and sold. Their phone number, domain name, and even the original Roll About patent were each sold to different medical companies, cementing the fact that the Roll About Brand and its knee walkers as we know them are now part of the past. Once the supplies that ourselves and other companies have are gone, Roll About knee walkers will become very hard to find.
While we will continue to rent and sell Roll About knee walkers for most likely the rest of the year due to their popularity with our customers, our supply will eventually run dry!
Now that Roll About is no more, please don't be fooled, unless the knee walker you rent or buy is made by Roll About and is a turquoise color, it is not a Roll About !! Many companies have now taken advantage of the brand name and use it in their advertising but have no affiliation with the former Roll About Corporation.
We wish everyone of Roll About all the best, and thank them for the great relationship we've had over the last 5 years.
