Product Trial Roscoe Steerable Knee Scooter Review
- In our ongoing effort to find new products, this June we added a new knee scooter to our rental fleet. We chose the Roscoe Knee Scooter as we wanted to offer an economic model to our fleet. The Roscoe Knee Scooter is one of the cheapest knee walkers on the market and unfortunately we found out why.
Upon our initial reviews it appears to be a good choice. It has a small frame, split knee pad and relatively easy assembly. So we set a recurring order of new Roscoe Knee Scooters and made it available to our customers. Within a few weeks, we started to receive calls from customers who were experiencing problems with their knee walkers. At first we thought it was very strange as these were not normal problems we had with any other models. But then a pattern started to emerge and they were all Roscoe Knee Scooters model(ROS-KS). While we took care of each customer, sending out replacement knee walkers where needed, we were becoming increasingly concerned.
Over this same time period we were checking each and every new knee scooter sent from Roscoe before we sent them out to customers, we were amazed at what we found. We found some knee scooters that had steering that would steer 10 degrees to the left (hardly enough to even turn to the left) and 60 degree steering to the right. Other Roscoe knee scooter's that were missing the thumb screws to attach the knee posts, and even one unit that had no rear locking nut to the rear right side, the wheel would just spin off after just a few rotations.
During the same few days, we had a call from a customer who told us "I was moving from my bedroom to my bathroom and my Roscoe Knee Scooter gave way slightly. I leaned on the doorway and then heard a small thud behind me, looked around and saw one of the rear wheels rolling off into the bedroom". This was the final straw; we immediately pulled the Roscoe Knee Scooter from our website for the safety of our customers.
I guess it is true what they say, you get what you pay for.
For the best interests of our customers, we highly recommend that you rent or purchase other brands. The price might be enticing but quality and safety is not something you need to sacrifice.
