  • lIf you have ever had an injury, it’s one of the more difficult things to deal with. Be it pain, mental anguish of being unable to do activities you want, or simple household chores while injured can cause a lot of distress. Mentally and physically injuries are challenging which got us thinking about the fun things to do when injured.

These are simple suggestions but by trying them out it could lead you to discovering new things, friends, adventures and the great possibilities life has in store despite being injured.

    10. Support from Friends and Family

Suddenly being transported into a world of pain is difficult from a mental standpoint. It’s important to remember that friends and family can be the best thing when recovering from an injury. There are times when going through a recovery can feel lonely.

Don’t let this happen to you stay engaged with family members.

The support you will receive will uplift your spirits and put a smile on your face.

    9. Rent A Knee Walker!

That’s right rent a knee walker and go on a vacation. The best way to enjoy a vacation while injured is by renting a knee walker. There are plenty of options for people nursing injuries to have a great time.

The perks you can receive are awesome as well. For one handicap parking is a plus (if doctor approved ), going straight to the front of the line is another perk and most of all accessible ramps and bathrooms will make the experience even more enjoyable.

Just look at Makaila from Colchester, Connecticut she enjoyed the trip of a lifetime at Disney despite her injury!

"Taken at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. Enjoying the day with my family and friends thanks to my knee scooter rental! This walker helped me with getting around! I was able to shop and work thanks to my scooter. I was able to conserve my energy so that I could use it for physical therapy to heal and recover from my injury."

    8. Set Goals

Setting goals can be both challenging and fun at the same time. Challenging yourself to make the most of the recovery as each day passes.

During physical therapy going the extra centimeter or inch can make a huge difference with the mental state you are in.

By setting small but attainable goals this will make recovery a fun experience. When you start to see the progress, you make it will truly be uplifting.

    7. Physical Therapy

Some of the most interesting people you meet may come during physical therapy sessions. For my physical therapy sessions there were so many different stories from a variety of people suffering from injuries. Talking about injuries with others can be calming. You start to understand that they are in the same situation. Wanting to get back to full strength and go the extra distance just like you.

There are stories and people I will always remember from the days spent at physical therapy. It can be one of the highlights of a recovery process. Plus, it gets you up and moving which is a huge benefit.

    6. Go Outdoors More

Believe it or not spending plenty of time outdoors can be incredibly uplifting. While recovering it can sometimes be difficult to do easy tasks. One of these would be the accessibility of doing outdoor activities. Even sitting outside is a treat. Listening to the bird’s chirp, feeling a breeze flow through your hair is such a great feeling after spending so much time inside.

Going for small walks down the road or taking part in activities that allow you to sit down can make a massive difference in happiness.

    5. Try Something New

If you’re going to be out of commission for a while, then it might be time to start something new. Picking up a new hobby during this time can be engaging and help pass the time.

Anything you can do in order to keep the mind off the pain of an injury is worth doing. It’s a worth while piece of advice that can go a long way in helping with a happier healthier recovery.

    4. Eat Healthy

It can be easy to eat your feelings away but don’t do this. Eat healthy and try to maintain a healthy weight as well. While recovery involves a lot of sitting its important not to let the body waste away.

With the inactivity the muscles will inevitably face during this time it’s important to intake good vitamins, lots of protein and calcium which will encourage a broken bone to heal.

    3. Exercise

But only when you feel ready! Cannot stress this enough that exercise should only be attempted when you feel physically ready to do so. The worst thing that could happen would be a set back from doing something you’re not ready for. When it’s deemed time to exercise use a doctor’s digression.

If it’s a lower body injury try utilizing upper body strength exercises or vice versa. If you have upper body injury this is easier to deal with. Doing lower body exercises can aid in a full healthy recovery while staying fit.

    2. Write About It

Writing about the injury is a good thing to do. Keeping a detailed journal or diary of everything you have accomplished, or goals set to achieve. Write about the injury every day and it will allow you to look back on the experience to fully appreciate how far a journey its been. Writing not only passes time but perhaps a story develops out of it.

Writing a book during this time could be a fun thing to do as well.

    1. Read About Finances

This is a huge piece of advice. When you are injured get some books on finances. Learn how to make the most out of your money. By budgeting you can achieve goals, retire earlier, and learn things you have never known before. Learn about how the stock market operates. Make the most out of every piece of advice there is. This is a practical piece of advice.

Sure, it would be easy to sit around and play video games all day but learning about finances can set you apart and gain you an advantage in life.
