How to Use the Swivelmate Knee Scooter Brakes

Having dual brakes is convenient for instances where you need one hand free while holding onto the knee scooter securely. When you need both your hands and need your scooter for support, you can easily lock it into parking mode without dealing with any cumbersome locking mechanisms.
So how do you work the brakes on the Swivelmate?Engaging The Swivelmate Brakes
Much like a bike has handbrakes, the Swivelmate also utilizes a familiar setup for its brakes.
To use the handbrake, rest the palm of your hand on the handlebar grip, then reach your fingers and place them over the brake handles. Then squeeze the handle back toward the grip, just like a bicycle brake.
Engaging only one brake is enough to slow you down. When you engage both at the same time, the braking force will be greater—ideal for when you want to come to a complete stop.
For safety, the knee walker brake is designed to slow you down; it will not bring you to a complete stop abruptly.
How to Lock the Brakes
It is possible to lock the brakes and essentially park the knee walker. It's useful for when mounting on and off your knee walker and using it as support when you need both your hands to do something. Like for example, in the situations below:

To engage the parking brakes, push both handles forward until they lock into place. The brake handles will remain in the locked position until you disengage them.
How To Unlock the Brakes
To unlock the parking brakes, pull back on both brake handles, they will snap back into their normal position.
