  • Having a broken leg does not mean you have to pause on living your life—especially your dating life.

Nowadays, several mobility devices allow you to move around easier with minimal effort compared to crutches.

If you find yourself with a broken leg in a cast using crutches and a knee scooter, obviously you can't go out on a nature trail, bowl, or paintball, but there's still plenty of great things to do with your date.

    But First a Mental Check

If you're currently single, it's easy to feel self-conscious and fall into the trap that guys or girls would be put off by your injury. Assuming your injury is not permanent, rest assured, they won't.

If someone turns you down because of your cast, this person is not worth your time.

    How to Meet People

So if you're injured and single, you may be wondering: how do you even get a first date to begin with?

There are many ways to meet people looking to date—but this subject requires its own article.

In this age of coronavirus and social distancing, online dating apps are more active than usual—which you can argue you have increased chances at success.

Here's a great list of the best dating apps
    for any particular situation.

    Embrace Your Situation

Here's a positive thing about your cast, boot, crutches, or knee scooter—they are a great conversation starter for the person attempting to hit on you.

If you're out and about, it's a natural subject for a guy or a girl to approach and ask you what happened to you or compliment your mobility device.

This is an opportune time to share your story and secure a date.

    Share Your Recovery

It's a ubiquitous practice for people to only post about the good things in their lives.

But the thing is—people love a good triumph story.

If you're active on social media, share your recovery journey with your friends. Some folks comment that posting about their foot injury and recovery journey made a lot of their friends reach out and offered to help with anything.

Perhaps, someone you've had an interest in will message you—or feelings can develop by spending a lot of time with a particular friend.

    Date Ideas

Here are some date ideas that don't require a ton of mobility.

These activities lend themselves to having great conversations, which is vital to building a great connection between you two.

Sidenote: if going to indoor establishments, be mindful of crowded places if your city is still trying to flatten the covid19 curve. Be safe and wear a mask.

    1. Improv or Comedy Shows

They are an excellent opportunity to share a laugh together. You can pre and post-game by having coffee or drinks at a nearby cafe or bar. Check if your city has a comedy venue or many coffee shops will host comedy shows.

    2. Cook a Meal Together

This is a fun, collaborative activity that you can count on being a great time. You don't have to be a professional cook or bartender to do this—the fun is in the experience, not the end result. There are some cool places to find food ideas, cocktail ideas, or wine suggestions.

    3. Pick up a Card or Board Game

These games help break the ice, and it's a way to keep mentally engaged.

    4. Picnic

Find a place with lovely views (and a time with good weather). Pick up some picnic friendly snacks and lay down a towel. If you are okay just conversing, that's fine; but you can also bring a board game or card game to interact and break the ice.

    5. Go to a Brewery

They are ideal places to spend some time without the pressure of timed seating like in a restaurant. It's fun, casual, and you might be able to take a brewery tour or catch a community event.

    6. Paint and Sip

These are great ways to do something interactive together in an adult setting. Check your area if there's Painting With A Twist or a similar concept. And if you prefer a night in, you can easily turn this idea into a cozy home date. Simply buy a blank canvas or download adult coloring books, set up your own paint and sip station at home, and enjoy a creative and intimate evening together.

    7. Museums

If you or your date are on a knee scooter, visiting a museum should not be an issue. This setting is a great way to get to know a person based on what they find amusing.

    8. Binge-Watch a Show Together

If you're on a cuddling phase, this is a no-brainer. There's nothing better than to pass time snuggling and binge-watching a great show with fancy popcorn. Here's a list of really good shows to stream.

Here's the Most Important Thing to Keep in Mind

What you do on a date is not the most important thing. What's valuable is the quality of the interaction you have with your date.

If you shared a laugh, got along well, and had a great time—nothing else matters.

    Good luck!
